Our Hair & Beauty course offers students an exciting gateway into the dynamic and fast-growing world of hairdressing, beauty therapy, and cosmetics. Delivered through the VTCT Skills Level 1 Certificate, the programme blends practical salon-based training with essential theoretical knowledge, giving learners a strong foundation for further study or entry-level roles in the industry.
Through hands-on learning experiences such as shampooing, basic styling, make-up application and skincare treatments, students gain confidence, creativity, and real exposure to working in a mock-salon environment. Alongside technical skills, learners develop teamwork, professionalism, communication and customer-service skills, attributes that are highly valued across a wide range of future careers.
Students will also explore the diverse pathways within the hair and beauty industry, from salon services and retail roles to specialist areas such as media, fashion, wellness and make-up artistry. This course is ideal for learners who enjoy practical learning, working with people, and expressing creativity.
On successful completion, learners can progress to Level 2 qualifications in Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy, Barbering or Make-Up Artistry, or pursue apprenticeships leading directly to employment. This course builds practical skills and prepares students for a professional future in a creative and rewarding industry
Learners will study a range of introductory units such as:
Basic Hair Styling & Shampooing: Techniques to prepare, cleanse, and style hair safely and professionally.
Make-Up Application & Skincare: Exploring natural looks, product selection, cleansing routines and skin preparation.
Health, Safety & Hygiene in a Salon Environment: Understanding professional standards, risk assessment and industry expectations.
Client Care & Communication: Developing confidence, customer service skills and professional salon etiquette.
Creating a Professional Image: Presentation, teamwork and behaviour in a working salon environment.
Industry Awareness & Career Pathways: Exploring roles across hairdressing, beauty, fashion, media and wellbeing sectors.
Additional enrichment opportunities may include working on peers, models and themed practical tasks.
