Our PE curriculum is designed in line with the National Curriculum and provides a diverse and engaging programme that supports every pupil in leading an active, healthy lifestyle. Students take part in a wide range of individual and team sports, fitness activities and outdoor challenges, developing the physical skills, knowledge and confidence needed to participate in sport both in school and beyond.
Lessons are planned to promote high levels of engagement, ensuring every pupil feels included, motivated and excited to take part. Through progressive skill development, purposeful practice and opportunities for reflection, pupils make meaningful progress in their physical performance, understanding of tactics, personal fitness and ability to evaluate and improve their own work. This leads to strong outcomes, including improved technical ability, teamwork, leadership, resilience and a lifelong commitment to physical activity.
We are equipped with high-quality facilities that support inclusive learning experiences, including two fully equipped classrooms for theoretical learning and an indoor artificial-grass football pitch, providing a safe, all-weather space for high-quality physical activity and sports coaching.
To extend learning beyond core PE, we offer a clear pathway into GCSE Physical Education, where students apply their understanding in greater depth to gain a qualification. Pupils can also take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award, which develops independence, leadership, resilience and outdoor adventure skills.
We also deliver Hybrid Weeks throughout the year as enrichment experiences that broaden participation beyond the normal curriculum. These weeks expose pupils to a variety of additional sports and extra-curricular activities, allowing them to explore new interests, develop wider skill sets and further deepen their engagement in physical activity. Through this approach, our curriculum nurtures confident, resilient and active young people who value physical activity and possess the skills to thrive both in sport and in life.
